a piece of Queensland history
This truly magnificent Queenslander is something to behold. It isn’t often I am speechless but this home rendered me such. “Kingswood” was built in 1911, this impressive home has a vast history of family and community. Built for a local family, it remained as a family home until 1942 when it was to house 40 students and staff from the local area for 5 years when their school was requisitioned by the Australian Government. The building and grounds were used in 1948 by the Gospel Service Mission as a Christian camping centre and have remained in the care of caretakers until 2002 when it changed hands again to a private family. In 2007 the grounds were sold to the current owners where a school was started using the outbuildings near this magnificent Queenslander, when the school grew, they moved to a new location, still using ‘Kingswood’ for meetings and important social gatherings.
