Renovated Queenslander

We are quite picky when it comes to buying the houses we list.  We get offered so many different houses every year, in all states of repair (or dis-repair!) so we get to weed them out and pick the best ones for you.

I love the hunt, getting the lead on a new house, getting in, drawing up plans and taking enough photos that you can capture the essence of the house. That is the part of my job I love the best.  Of course, because I look forward to ‘house shopping’ days, when the house isn’t what I expected then I get quite disappointed. Today was one of those days 🙁

I had done the research, checked  out all the photos that I could online, (realestate.com has photos from previous sales) and I was looking forward to seeing a 4 bedroom renovated Queenslander with 2 bathrooms, entry, study, high ceilings, built in cupboards, butlers pantry…. the list goes on. Can you see the thread of why I was keen?

There is nothing better than a  renovated Queenslander, to get one ready for removal that has had the renovation done already – bonus! Until you find the house has ‘VJ like’ MDF boards where there should be windows, but wait, the windows are still there, and not even closed. Oh dear, do you know what MDF board does when it gets wet? (hint: it’s not good) Sometimes it is better to do the renovation yourself, put your own touch to it and know that this house reflects your style and personality, not just a slap and tickle of paint and look alike VJ.

We want your removal house to be the best it can possibly be, I’m glad we are picky, aren’t you?

This is what we saw today:
